The UK has opted not to join Canada's Defense, Security, and Resilience Bank (DSRB), impacting the establishment of an international defense financing bank. Instead, the UK and Canada will develop separate funding mechanisms while collaborating on defense investments. Both governments aim to create a cooperation agreement to support strategic challenges. The UK’s Multilateral Defense Mechanism (MDM) will focus on accelerating defense investments, while Canada’s DSRB seeks to finance defense industries and supply chains. Despite the UK and Germany's refusal to join, both countries emphasize that their funding mechanisms will not compete but rather complement each other. The DSRB aims to raise €100 billion for defense projects, with support from several countries, including Romania.
