Romania remains the leading producer of walnuts in the EU, despite a slight decrease in this year's harvest due to drought. Local walnuts are preferred by consumers, with prices ranging from 40 to 60 lei per kilogram. The country is expected to produce around 59,000 tons this year, accounting for about half of the EU's total walnut production. Although the harvest is 2% lower than last year, Romania continues to export walnuts, primarily to Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, and France. Farmers are currently gathering their crops and preparing for winter storage, ensuring the quality of Romanian walnuts is maintained throughout the year.
