Young people under 35 can now buy homes with a minimum 5% down payment through the "Noua Casă" program, following a legislative proposal adopted by the Senate. This initiative aims to lower the financial barrier for young buyers without imposing direct costs on the state budget. It supports equitable access to housing, encourages family formation, and alleviates rental market pressure. The proposal received 102 votes in favor and one abstention, and it aligns with PSD's government program for 2026-2028, which includes plans for social housing funding and legal frameworks for housing cooperatives.
