Young people under 35 can now buy homes through the 'Noua Casă' program with a minimum down payment of 5%, even for loans between €70,001 and €140,000. The Senate approved this legislative proposal aimed at easing access to homeownership for youth. This initiative, led by Minister Alexandru-Mihai Ghigiu, aims to lower the initial down payment requirement without imposing direct costs on the state budget. It is expected to facilitate the formation of new families and alleviate rental market pressures. The proposal received 102 votes in favor and one abstention, and it aligns with PSD's plans for social housing financing and legal frameworks for housing cooperatives.
