The Senate approved a legislative proposal allowing young people under 35 to buy homes with a minimum 5% down payment through the 'Noua Casă' program. This is a reduction from the current 15% requirement for loans between €70,000 and €140,000. The initiative aims to ease access to homeownership for young individuals, promoting family formation and reducing rental market pressure. The proposal was adopted with 102 votes in favor and one abstention. Additionally, the PSD party plans to include measures for social housing financing and legal frameworks for housing cooperatives in their governance program for 2026-2028.
