Over 300 U.S. soldiers are set to arrive in Colombia for joint military training aimed at combating drug trafficking and illegal mining. The exercises will take place from October 30 to November 11, as part of a security alliance between Colombia and the U.S. under President Abelardo de la Espriella. This collaboration seeks to enhance international cooperation and knowledge exchange in fighting armed groups. The U.S. troops, specialized mountain soldiers, will also provide medical training for treating injuries in mined areas. This marks the fourth edition of such joint exercises in Colombia, reflecting a strengthened military partnership since Espriella's election.
