A significant theft of 700,000 euros from a secure room at Otopeni Airport has raised suspicions about airport employees' involvement. The money was confiscated from two passengers returning from Dubai, who were later found to have undeclared valuables worth 2.3 million euros. When the passengers returned to reclaim their money, they discovered it was missing, replaced by paper. The investigation revealed that less than ten airport staff had access to the secure area, and the money was not deposited in a bank as required by protocol. The theft involved careful manipulation of the sealed bag containing the cash, which was cut and resewn to conceal the crime.
