Former Finance Minister Alexandru Nazare announced a budget deficit reduction to 3.81% of GDP in the first nine months of 2026, down from 5.31% the previous year. He highlighted that while revenues increased by 11.9%, pressures remain due to interest costs and financial obligations. Public investments rose significantly, largely funded by European funds. Nazare warned that unvalidated funding could increase budget pressure and emphasized the need for careful financial management. He stated that both the budget revision and the 2027 budget construction will be complex, requiring secure funding sources for new expenditures. He urged against fiscal slippage that could harm Romania's financial credibility.
