The Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Energy have proposed extending the crisis situation in the oil and petroleum products market until January 31, 2027, to maintain protective measures against rising fuel prices. The draft resolution aims to continue existing measures, including temporary reductions in excise duties on diesel and limits on commercial markups. Eliminating the diesel excise reduction could raise prices by approximately 0.85 lei per liter. The extension is intended to mitigate inflationary pressures and protect purchasing power, especially during winter, while also reducing costs for transport, agriculture, and logistics sectors. The draft will undergo legal approval before being adopted by October 31, 2026.
