Germany is preparing to purchase Bars cruise missiles developed in Ukraine, with a range of up to 1,000 kilometers. Initial testing is set for early 2027, and if successful, Germany may order hundreds. This marks the first known acquisition of offensive weaponry from Ukraine for the German military. The Bars missiles can carry payloads of up to 105 kilograms and are classified as low-cost cruise missiles. Production has begun in Germany through a Ukrainian-German joint venture, aiming to manufacture weapons outside Ukraine to mitigate risks from Russian attacks. Germany is also exploring other missile options, including the Anthem and Flamingo missiles, to enhance its long-range arsenal.
