Călin Georgescu has been released from preventive arrest and placed under judicial control by the Bucharest Tribunal. The decision follows a previous request for house arrest that was contested by DIICOT. Georgescu, along with two others, is accused of forming a criminal group to defraud a businessman out of significant sums of money. Prosecutors allege they misled the victim into transferring over one million euros under false pretenses regarding a bank loan. The total estimated damage exceeds 1.1 million euros, and DIICOT has also seized several of Georgescu's bank accounts and properties.
