Starting November 1, 2026, the EU will implement a €2 processing fee per product category for online orders from outside the EU. This fee is in addition to the €3 fee for small packages introduced in July 2026, aimed at curbing the influx of products from China via platforms like Shein and Aliexpress. The processing fee will be reviewed every two years based on customs control costs. The measure responds to the significant rise in small packages from Asia, complicating systematic checks for dangerous or counterfeit goods. While the fee is intended to be covered by sellers or platforms, they may increase prices for consumers. Additionally, from July 1, 2028, lower specific fees will be introduced for packages passing through specialized warehouses, and the €3 fee will be removed.
