The High Court of Cassation and Justice ruled that when a bank declares an early maturity of a loan, the consumer owes interest only until that point, not for the remaining contract period. This decision clarifies that the term "due debt" does not include interest for the time after early maturity. The ruling aims to enhance consumer protection and ensure legal clarity in creditor-consumer relationships. It will be published in the Official Gazette of Romania.
