Natural gas prices in Europe have surpassed 97 euros per megawatt-hour, raising concerns about winter supply amid geopolitical tensions. Futures prices have increased by up to 3.5% as traders anticipate higher heating demand due to dropping temperatures. Despite remaining below previous crisis highs, this price rise could exacerbate inflation and impact economic activity. Current gas storage levels in the EU are around 75%, the lowest for this time of year since 2009, with Germany at just over 61%.
