New regulations for obtaining and renewing driving licenses will take effect on November 6. Drivers with vision issues, mental health conditions, or alcohol dependency will be assessed under updated medical criteria. A diagnosis will no longer automatically result in losing a license; instead, the impact on driving safety will be evaluated. Vision assessments will include specialized checks beyond basic acuity. Individuals with severe mental disorders may retain their licenses under specific conditions, provided they receive favorable medical evaluations. Alcohol dependency rules have also changed, allowing for license renewal after a period of abstinence and medical confirmation. However, those dependent on psychotropic substances will not be eligible for a license. Regulations for truck and bus drivers remain stricter due to higher risks.
