A study by IRES reveals that while 68% of Romanians are interested in protecting their homes, only 25% have mandatory PAD insurance. The interest is higher among those over 35 and in rural areas. Awareness of the legal obligation to insure homes against natural disasters is high, with 83% knowing about PAD, but only 55% are aware of potential fines for non-compliance. The PAD policy covers damages from earthquakes, floods, and landslides, while optional insurance can cover additional risks. UNSAR is running a campaign to raise awareness about the importance of insurance and risk prevention.
