The Bucharest Tribunal is set to review the DIICOT prosecutors' request to extend Călin Georgescu's preventive arrest by 30 days due to fraud allegations involving 1.1 million euros. Georgescu has been in custody since September 29, linked to a case involving a businessman from Buzău. The court's decision follows a previous ruling that allowed Georgescu to seek house arrest, which was later contested and overturned. The investigation suggests that Georgescu misled the businessman into transferring funds under the pretense of securing external financing for a precious metals venture in Dubai, which ultimately did not materialize.
