During the night of St. Dumitru, local residents in Ștefănești, Argeș, attacked firefighters and police responding to an unauthorized fire. The traditional ritual fire, meant for purification and fertility, led to aggression against emergency responders. One firefighter was injured by a brick, and emergency vehicles were damaged as locals protested the extinguishing of the fire. The situation calmed when gendarmes arrived, and the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations condemned the violence against responders, emphasizing their role in saving lives and the need for community respect.
