Astrolab plans to send the FLIP lunar rover to the Moon's South Pole this year, carrying a supercomputer from HPE to test advanced computing and AI technologies. This mission, part of NASA's Artemis program, aims to prepare for future crewed missions and establish a sustainable lunar presence. The Spaceborne Computer-4 is designed for extreme lunar conditions and will operate semi-autonomously for extended periods. It will also test navigation software previously used on Mars, adapting it for lunar terrain. Successful tests could enhance data processing capabilities on the Moon, supporting scientific research and exploration.
