Romania's cash deficit reached 3.8% in September, down from 5.5% last year, according to Finance Minister Alexandru Nazare. He emphasized that quarterly ESA deficit data should not be confused with annual figures, which will be finalized in 2027. Nazare noted that the annual deficit evaluation will be based on definitive calculations, while quarterly figures are provisional and subject to change. He highlighted that the focus on the National Recovery and Resilience Plan has impacted the fiscal space for state-funded projects, contributing to the current cash deficit. The significant reduction in deficit reflects a strategic fiscal approach, with a notable difference of over 23 billion lei compared to last year.
