Kawasaki and Transgaz have partnered to test hydrogen transport technology via pipelines in Romania, marking a global first. The memorandum was signed in Tokyo during the Romania-Japan Innovation Forum 2026, with government officials present. The strategic partnership aims to facilitate large-scale hydrogen transport in Central and Eastern Europe, leveraging Transgaz's pipeline expertise and Kawasaki's centrifugal compressor technology. Initial tests will use the KM Comp-H2 compressor for transporting pure hydrogen gas. This initiative is part of a feasibility study funded by Japan's METI, aimed at supporting Ukraine's reconstruction and enhancing cooperation in the region. Kawasaki emphasizes the need for cost-effective hydrogen supply solutions to promote widespread adoption.
