The Romanian government has approved the receipt of 1.1 million vaccine doses from EU reserves to support sheep and goat farmers affected by export blockages. In Sibiu County, 25,000 doses will arrive in the first batch, prioritizing animals for sale. This initiative follows efforts to protect the livestock sector amid severe market restrictions due to diseases. The first 300,000 doses have already been delivered, and a national vaccination campaign is being prepared. Due to active outbreaks, the movement of live sheep and goats remains restricted until the end of the year, making this vaccination campaign crucial for resuming international trade.
