The Iași City Hall plans to purchase ten new trams funded by European grants, totaling nearly 152 million lei. This will increase the fleet to 60 trams. Mayor Mihai Chirica announced that the new trams will accommodate at least 135 passengers, with 30 seats available. Features include a low floor, ramps for reduced mobility, and multiple double doors. Standard equipment will consist of air conditioning, Wi-Fi, audio-visual systems, passenger information panels, ticket validators, GPS, and passenger counting devices. A collision warning system will enhance safety by detecting pedestrians and cyclists. Funding comes from the Regional Program North-East 2021-2027, focusing on sustainable urban mobility.
