A metallic object discovered in 1973 near Aiud has sparked debates due to its unusual composition and estimated age of around 250,000 years. Known as the 'Aiud Heel', it primarily consists of aluminum and features a thick layer of oxidation. Found by workers extracting sand and gravel, the object measures about 20 cm and weighs around two kilograms, suggesting it was part of a technical assembly. While metallurgical analyses indicate its age could range from 400 to 250,000 years, the exact origin remains disputed. An alternative theory links it to a component of the Me 262 fighter jet from World War II, raising questions about how it ended up buried at such depth.
