In Romania, nearly 98% of vehicles identified with critical brake and steering issues had valid technical inspections. RAR inspectors found over 3,000 vehicles posing imminent accident risks in the first eight months of 2026. Despite having valid ITP, many vehicles exhibited serious defects, particularly in braking systems and steering. Common issues included malfunctioning ABS warnings and excessive play in steering joints. Additionally, dangerous makeshift repairs, such as wooden blocks in suspension systems, were discovered. RAR emphasizes that technical inspections only reflect vehicle condition at the time of inspection, and defects can develop later.
