Starting January 2028, pensioners with gross pensions over 3,000 lei will see increased net payments due to the elimination of health insurance contributions (CASS). The changes will automatically apply to public pensioners without the need for requests. The CASS, currently at 10%, will cease for pensions above 3,000 lei, resulting in monthly increases ranging from 45 lei for a 3,500 lei pension to 450 lei for an 8,000 lei pension. However, the removal of CASS will also affect income tax calculations, slightly reducing the net gain. No refunds for CASS paid between 2025 and 2027 are planned, and pension adjustments may not account for future legislative changes.
