Two defendants reached plea agreements after allegedly abducting two five-month-old babies from their mother in Indonesia and holding them captive for 24 days. The children were rescued by police and returned to their mother. Prosecutors from the Bucharest Sector 5 Court finalized the agreements on October 20, 2026, with sentences of 4 years and 4 months for M.F. and 3 years and 4 months for G.D.S., both to be served in detention. The couple, living in Italy, had manipulated the mother into believing her children would be taken by Catholic missionaries. After the abduction on July 2, 2026, the babies were kept in captivity until their rescue on July 25, 2026. The plea agreements are pending approval by the court.
