The Minister of Labor, Florin Manole, stated that salary increases for public employees depend on budget decisions and Romania's commitments to control the deficit. He mentioned that the new unified salary law cannot be adopted in the next one to two months due to the government's focus on budget rectification and preparing the budget for 2027. Manole explained that preparing the budget involves decisions on pensions, allowances, and social benefits. He indicated that the salary law could be adopted in early 2027 but implemented later if the budget does not account for it. Estimated salary expenses are projected at 166 billion lei for 2026 and 174 billion lei for 2027, but these figures should not be seen as commitments for salary increases.
