The Romanian real estate market saw a significant decline in transactions, with over 32% fewer deals in Q3 2026 compared to the previous year. Bucharest experienced a drop of over 36%, while Brașov faced the steepest decline at over 63%. These figures come after a cyberattack affected the National Agency for Cadastre and Real Estate Publicity's systems. In total, more than 30,500 transactions were recorded nationally, with notable decreases in other major cities as well. The overall trend shows a nearly 18% drop in transactions since the beginning of the year, alongside a significant reduction in active mortgages. High financing costs continue to impact buyers, with the central bank maintaining high interest rates.
