Viorel Păunescu, former president of Steaua Bucharest from 1998 to 2003, passed away at the age of 91 on October 24. He had been battling Alzheimer's and other health issues in recent years. Păunescu was a notable figure in Romanian handball and also worked in tourism, hosting many prominent personalities. He expressed pride in his contributions to sports and tourism, wishing to relive his life in Romania if given the chance.
