Approximately 4.4 million voters in Slovakia are participating in regional and municipal elections, seen as a barometer for future parliamentary elections. The ruling coalition led by populist Prime Minister Robert Fico faces challenges, with polls showing no clear majority for either the government or the opposition. The elections cover all eight regions and nearly 3,000 municipalities, including major cities like Bratislava and Košice. Voting began at 7:00 AM local time and will conclude at 8:00 PM, with partial results expected overnight.
