A 1,700-year-old Roman mosaic depicting sandals was discovered in Sicily, alongside another mosaic featuring girls in bikinis. The findings were made at Villa Romana del Casale during an archaeological project involving students from various countries. The sandals mosaic, found in the baths, showcases intricate details and reflects the artistry of the 4th century AD. Similar mosaics have been found in other Roman baths, indicating the popularity of sandals as a decorative motif. The newly uncovered mosaics will be cleaned and prepared for permanent display, contributing to the site's historical documentation.
