A recent study published in Nature Medicine reveals that women experience more intense pain than men across various body areas. Researchers found that women are less likely to receive necessary pain relief treatments. Data from over 6 million individuals across 118 countries showed that pain intensity peaks around age 50 for severe pain and around 70 for generalized pain. The study highlights significant gender differences in pain perception and treatment, emphasizing the need for better healthcare access and personalized treatments for women. Factors like smoking and obesity contribute to global pain burdens, particularly in Eastern Europe, where women's pain is often overlooked.
