Norway has reached an agreement with Hungary to resume a grant scheme previously suspended due to disagreements with the former government. The deal, worth €254.1 million, will be signed by Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide and his counterparts from Iceland and Liechtenstein in Budapest. This funding, covering 2021-2028, aims to support cooperation in areas like democracy and environmental transition. The previous government had stalled payments due to a lack of agreement on fund management. The new Hungarian government has facilitated the resumption of this program, which Norway primarily finances.
