Airbnb has updated its house rules policy, effective November 20, 2026, prohibiting hosts from asking guests to perform certain cleaning tasks before departure. Hosts can still request reasonable actions like placing used dishes in the sink and sorting trash. However, tasks such as washing dishes, removing bed linens, or taking out the trash are now the responsibility of cleaning staff. The new policy standardizes house rules into seven categories and limits additional requests. Hosts must adapt their listings accordingly, and guests will be informed of the rules upfront. The cleaning fee covers standard cleaning between stays, and hosts cannot charge extra for uncompleted tasks.
