Heavy rains increasingly cause flooding in Bucharest, but new investments in drainage infrastructure could alleviate this issue. Apa Nova has completed the first reservoir for excess rainwater and is preparing a second project as part of a modernization plan. Despite a dry summer, the city has not faced water shortages due to successful management and modern water treatment facilities. However, the drainage system is not designed to handle extreme rainfall, leading to urban flooding. Ongoing projects aim to improve the situation, including new reservoirs and a large water discharge system in the Dâmbovița River.
