Norway has reached an agreement with Hungary to resume a grant scheme previously suspended due to disagreements with the former government. The deal, worth €254.1 million, will be signed by Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide and his counterparts from Iceland and Liechtenstein in Budapest. This funding, part of the European Economic Area and Norwegian Grants, aims to support cooperation in areas like democracy and press freedom from 2021 to 2028, with payments possible until 2031. The previous government had stalled payments due to disagreements over fund management. The new Hungarian government has facilitated this agreement, which includes mechanisms for fund oversight.
