Romania is set to invest €27 billion in offshore wind energy projects in the Black Sea, aiming to become a leading green energy supplier in the region. The Ministry of Energy has initiated the licensing process for the first offshore wind farms, which could generate between 3 GW and 3.5 GW of installed capacity. This move ends a 16-month bureaucratic delay and signals to global energy giants that Romania is ready for investment. The project is expected to have a significant economic impact, enhancing logistics at the Port of Constanta and requiring upgrades to the national electricity grid. Additionally, it will provide substantial tax revenues and stabilize energy prices for industrial consumers.
