The National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority (ANSVSA) has received 300,000 doses of vaccine from the EU to combat Small Ruminant Plague (SRP). This donation, valued at 1.3 million lei, will be administered by ANSVSA to immunize sheep. The vaccination campaign is crucial for restoring the health status of the livestock sector and resuming live animal exports. The vaccines are provided free of charge to farmers, with no costs incurred. The initial focus will be on high-risk areas, particularly Constanța and Tulcea. The vaccination process will be organized based on the National Database, and veterinarians will contact animal owners directly. The campaign aims to stabilize the epidemiological situation and lift restrictions on livestock movement by the end of 2026.
