The government approved this decision during an extraordinary meeting on October 23. Ungureanu is expected to lead the Prime Minister's Chancellery, a ministerial-level role, marking the second appointment from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. His extensive diplomatic experience includes roles in Paris and Brussels, where he managed consular affairs. This appointment follows the recent naming of Mihaela-Ilincuța Ștefan-Simion as the Prime Minister's chief of staff, also from the Foreign Ministry.
