The Romanian tax authority has yet to recover approximately 4.7 million lei from former President Klaus Iohannis for unpaid rent on a property. ANAF's head, Adrian Nica, confirmed that the case is ongoing in court and emphasized the agency's commitment to pursue all debtors equally. The amount owed includes interest and penalties, and ANAF has sought to place a lien on the Iohannis family's assets after they refused to pay voluntarily. The case has been moved to Hunedoara after initial proceedings in Sibiu were rejected. The state has also taken full ownership of the property in question.
