Google is planning to enforce a minimum requirement of Android 11 for Android Auto, potentially leaving millions of drivers without access to this feature. Starting October 2026, users with older smartphones running Android 9 or 10 may find their devices incompatible with Android Auto. Reports indicate that many users, particularly those with Samsung Galaxy S9 and Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact, have already received notifications about this issue. Currently, Android Auto requires at least Android 9 for wired connections and Android 11 for wireless use. If the new requirements are confirmed, devices stuck on older versions will lose functionality with Android Auto.
