Construction has begun on two new hospitals in Romania, with a total investment of nearly 2 billion lei. The Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, announced the start of works for the Regional Oncology Institute in Timișoara and the new wing of the Giurgiu County Emergency Hospital. The Timișoara project is estimated at around 1.7 billion lei and will feature 250 beds. The Giurgiu facility will include oncology and neurology departments, with an investment of approximately 258.5 million lei for 122 beds. Both projects are funded through the European Health Program 2021-2027, ensuring that none of the nine hospital projects transferred from the PNRR will be abandoned.
