A local PNL councilor from Slatina fired a hunting rifle during police searches related to a loan sharking and blackmail case. The former vice mayor, now a councilor, shot at a neighbor's garage when police arrived to execute a search warrant. He was found with a legally owned firearm and complied with police orders to surrender it. Investigators allege he lent money at interest and later pressured the borrower for additional payments and benefits. Both he and a director from the Olt Water Company were detained for 24 hours and are set to face court for preventive arrest.
