The Synod of the Romanian Greek-Catholic Church convened in Blaj, approving the temporary union of the Cluj-Gherla Diocese with the Alba Iulia and Făgăraș Archdiocese. This decision follows favorable consultations with the Holy See. The bishops also endorsed the Statute of the Major Archiepiscopal Assembly, revised the Liturgy, and prepared for the publication of the Gospel. The upcoming assembly will focus on current pastoral, social, and cultural challenges, emphasizing faith transmission and church identity. Archbishop Major Claudiu presided over the session, with the next synodal meeting scheduled for June 2027.
