The new government proposes that parents returning to work early could receive both salary and child allowance simultaneously. Parents returning when their child is between 6 months and 1 year could keep the allowance for an additional 6 months, while those returning after one year could receive it for 3 months. For instance, a parent with a net salary of 5,000 lei and an allowance of 3,500 lei could earn over 8,000 lei monthly. Currently, around 145,000 parents receive child allowances, and about 70,000 benefit from insertion incentives. Additionally, working grandparents may take child care leave with parental consent. However, there is no clear timeline or cost estimate for these changes yet.
