An inspector from the Environmental Fund Administration was detained by DNA Cluj for allegedly accepting a bribe of 45,000 lei to assist a company in reducing its payment obligations. During a search of his home, investigators found approximately 90,000 euros. The accused, Cozoș Ioan Andrei, allegedly demanded the bribe between October 15-16, 2026, claiming it was 30% of the environmental tax owed by the company. In exchange, he promised to help declare electronic waste in a way that would lower the company's payments. On October 22, he received the money, leading to his arrest. He is set to be presented to the Cluj Tribunal for preventive detention for 30 days.
