The Constitutional Court will discuss on November 18 the constitutionality of a law declaring Voluntari a municipality, challenged by President Nicușor Dan. The law is based on a 2004 referendum but ignores a subsequent 2009 referendum favoring Voluntari's integration into Bucharest. The Presidential Administration highlights that the 2009 referendum, which showed 78% support for the change, was not considered in the legal documentation. Additionally, the Economic and Social Council issued a negative opinion, citing the lack of public hospitals in Voluntari and questioning the relevance of the 2004 referendum. The government also opposes the legislative initiative.
