Romania faces an accelerated aging population, with over 3.7 million people aged 65 and older. The demand for elderly care services is rising, projected to reach 27.7% of the population by 2050. The National Agency for Payments and Social Inspection (ANPIS) emphasizes the need for enhanced social services to support the elderly, as demographic changes will increasingly pressure families and communities. Currently, nearly 5,900 social services are available, but the demand for care, including home care and long-term assistance, is significant. A national strategy aims to improve elderly care services and promote active aging, while a project targeting 2,000 rural communities seeks to enhance access to essential services for vulnerable populations, including the elderly.
