The Labor Importers Employers' Association (PIFM) is urging the Ministry of Labor to issue a temporary order to resume hiring foreign workers, which has been halted due to a court ruling. A study by PIFM estimates economic losses and unrealized revenues at nearly 50 million lei, affecting over 3,600 foreign citizens who risk losing their legal entry into Romania by year-end. PIFM proposes temporarily including all professions from major groups 3-9 in the shortage occupations list to expedite processing through the WorkInRomania platform. The request follows a suspension of the shortage occupations order by the Bucharest Court of Appeal, which has led to the deactivation of certain platform functionalities. PIFM emphasizes the need for logistical support from authorities to resolve this bureaucratic issue and protect both employers' and workers' interests.
